Bible Translation Overview

1992 Preliminary meetings of people interested in Japanese Sign Language Bible translation.
April 1993: J-DEM and ViBi established under an inter-denominational Board of Directors.
December 1993: Preliminary test version of Luke 2:1-20.
1994 Redirection from theatrical signing to "common language" signing, translation work= begins.
1995 Full time worker, Ms. Ikemoto Mayumi, hired.
1996 Mark 1-4*, 5-8 Jonah* & Ruth*, Acts 1-4* published.
1997 Mark 9-12, Acts 5-8, 9-12= published.
1998 Mark 13-16, Acts 13-16, 17-20= published.
1999 Acts 21-24, 25-28, Philippians* published, JESUS* video translation work.
2000 I,II Thessalonians* published

*The Gospel of Mark was translated by Rev. Matsumoto Eiji, Jonah by Mr. Atarashi Tadahiro, and Ruth, Acts, Philippians, and Thessalonians by Ms. Ikemoto Mayumi.
*The Campus Crusade JESUS video was translated by Rev. Minamida Masahiro. Though ViBi staff played a supporting role, this ground-breaking project was a joint venture taken on by Japan Campus Crusade for Christ and The Japan Baptist= Mission.
